Change the balance, voice, room and loudness
Audio tools change the balance, the voice, the room and the loudness of the video you are watching, and they sit on the widget's Audio tab, which needs a connected account like the rest of that tab. They change only what you hear on the page.
They do not work on protected video, such as Netflix and Disney+. The widget says so.
Balance
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Left / right | Moves the sound toward the left or the right speaker; Centre is the middle |
| Mono | Plays both channels as one |
| Swap L/R | Swaps the left and right channels |
Voice & room
Pick a Voice: Chipmunk, Deep, Robot, Echo or Telephone. Each one is a real pitch shift, and the video speed never changes. The Pitch button under Advanced Audio is the Deep voice.
Pick a Room: Small room, Hall, Cathedral or Cave. Room mix sets how much of the room you hear.
Off under either one puts it back.
Loudness
Even loudness brings quiet parts up and loud parts down, by at most 12 dB. Turn it on for a video where the speaker is soft and the music is not.
Limiter stops the sound from going past a Ceiling you set, from -1 dB to -12 dB. It keeps a sudden loud moment in check.
Turn audio tools off switches all of them off at once.
Audio tools settings
Settings, Video Features tab, Audio tools holds the same controls: Balance (left / right), Mono, Swap left and right, Voice, Room, Room mix, Even loudness, Limiter and Limiter ceiling. Reset audio tools puts them back.
When it does not work
The widget shows one of three messages:
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "Not available on protected video (Netflix, Disney+ and similar): its audio cannot be processed." | The site protects the video, and the audio cannot be changed |
| "Not available on this video: the site does not let its audio be processed." | The video comes from another site that does not allow it |
| "Starts when the video plays." | Press play and the tools start |
Audio boost and normalize are separate controls on the same tab, with their own keys and their own page, which also covers the eight Advanced Audio buttons.
Shortcuts
Two optional shortcuts start with no key: "Turn audio tools on or off" and "Swap left and right". Each needs a connected account. Give one a key in Change a shortcut.
Next: Capture and export.
