Which sites Video Controls Plus works on
Video Controls Plus works on any site that plays a standard HTML5 video, with extra tools on YouTube, Netflix and LinkedIn. That covers Udemy, Vimeo, Twitch, Coursera, Khan Academy, Prime Video, and any other site with a standard video.
What you get on any site
The core controls are the same everywhere: speed with ] and [, the widget, and your shortcuts.
The extras made for one site are on three sites only.
| Site | Extras | Page |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube | YouTube extras, each with its own switch | YouTube |
| Netflix | Netflix extras, off until you switch them on | Netflix |
| LinkedIn tools that run from the menu |
Embedded videos
A YouTube or Vimeo player inside an article or a course page gets the floating controls, the keyboard shortcuts and the right-click actions too, and the extension loads into an embedded frame only when the frame contains a video.
Check a site in the popup
Open the popup on the site. It shows the site name and one of three states.
| Popup shows | What it means |
|---|---|
| Supported | The site is on the built-in list |
| Enabled | You enabled the extension on this site |
| Not enabled | The extension is not running here |
When the popup shows Not enabled, click Enable on this site. The built-in list is in Settings, on the Site Settings tab, under Supported Sites.
When the controls do not appear
- The site is paused. Open the popup and click Resume. See Pause per site.
- The popup shows Not enabled. Click Enable on this site.
- The page has no standard HTML5 video, so there is nothing to control.
- The widget is hidden. Press
EscorCtrl + Alt + H.
