Moving from Video Popout

Video Popout is one toolbar button that floats the video. Here the same job is one key, with no account.

Last checked 2026-11-07. A one-button extension that pops the playing video into a floating window with the picture-in-picture API. Check Video Popout yourself.

Move across

  1. Install Video Controls Plus for your browser: Install Video Controls Plus.
  2. Press Ctrl + Alt + P on a video: Watch in Picture-in-Picture.
  3. Keep a toolbar habit if you like: pin the extension, and the popup stays one click away.
  4. Turn Video Popout off on your browser's Extensions page, so two extensions don't answer the same keys. Remove it once your own sites work.

Each browser keeps an extension's settings to itself, so nothing carries over. You set them once here.

Who is better off with which

  • Choose Video Popout if you want one toolbar button that floats the video and nothing else.
  • Choose Video Controls Plus if you want picture in picture together with speed, loops, filters, notes and watch later.
