Moving from Video Player

Video Player plays local files and transcodes formats. We control video on the sites you visit, so keep it if local files are why you have it.

Last checked 2026-11-07. A media player extension: audio boost to 300%, speed to 8x, repeat, screenshots, local files and transcoding of formats the browser lacks. Check Video Player yourself.

Move across

  1. Install Video Controls Plus for your browser: Install Video Controls Plus.
  2. Use Audio boost for quiet video. It goes to 400% and needs an account.
  3. Change speed up to 16x: Control the playback speed.
  4. For local files and formats like AVI and WMV, keep Video Player. Our docs cover video on websites.
  5. Turn Video Player off on your browser's Extensions page, so two extensions don't answer the same keys. Remove it once your own sites work.

Each browser keeps an extension's settings to itself, so nothing carries over. You set them once here.

Who is better off with which

  • Choose Video Player if you play local files in the browser or need formats like AVI and WMV transcoded.
  • Choose Video Controls Plus if you control video on the sites you visit and want loops, filters, notes and an account across devices.
